Mortal Shell 2 has 16 total weapons and sidearms spread across Fallgrim: 2 from the prologue, 6 in Fainweald, and 8 in the Ruins of Mammon. Every weapon can be equipped by any Shell, and all armaments can be upgraded at the Tarforge in Marrow Keep. Everything below comes from collected gameplay data; details that remain unverified are noted inline.

How Many Weapons Are in Mortal Shell 2?

GameSpot’s full collection counts 16 armaments: 2 in the prologue, 6 in Fainweald, and 8 in Mammon. Fextralife’s wiki lists 8 melee weapons, and GameSpot’s guide covers 8 sidearms, adding up to that same total. Weapons and sidearms fill separate equipment slots, so you always carry one of each. Both types can be upgraded via the Tarforge in Marrow Keep with coins and smithing-stone materials.

All Melee Weapons

The 8 known melee weapons are The Iconoclast, Axe and Dagger, Veteran’s Battle Axe, Great Martyr’s Blade, Obsidian Hammer, Axatana, Black Needle, and Clockwork Scythe. Lore from Fextralife: The Iconoclast is exceptionally light for a two-hander; Axe and Dagger pairs a vicious northern axe with a thief’s tool; Great Martyr’s Blade was reforged after First Martyr Tarsus’s final sacrifice; Axatana once bore the name “Dream Thresher.” The trailer also showcased rapid-fire crossbows, shotguns, and elemental weapons as new ranged options — whether all of them appear in the final game is not yet confirmed.

All Sidearms and Where to Find Them

The 8 sidearms are Naylshotte, Forgotten Crossbow, Troubadour’s Lute, Salvaged Trebuchaxe, Ballistazooka, Triarch Repeater, Cursed Child, and Caged Hystrix. Naylshotte is a shotgun-like prologue contraption; the Troubadour’s Lute sits on stage in the One-Legged Wolf tavern and makes enemies fight each other; the Salvaged Trebuchaxe fires axes and drops from the Bloodcursed Lithopod boss. The Ballistazooka hides in Sentry’s Grave inside Lonesome Spire, and the Caged Hystrix appears near the Chamber of Becoming exit after defeating Sariel.

Weapon Abilities and Upgrades

Every weapon has a unique Weapon Ability that consumes Resolve, with effects such as elemental imbues, ranged attacks, or AoE damage. Resolve builds by attacking enemies, so the flow is attack first, then unleash the ability when it matters. The Tarforge in Marrow Keep upgrades any weapon with coins and smithing-stone materials. Several unique abilities (like Magdalena’s Memento) come from gate bosses, though whether that covers every special is not yet confirmed.

Weapons by Region

  • Prologue: The Iconoclast + Naylshotte, plus the Untarnished Seal for blocking.
  • Fainweald: Forgotten Crossbow, Veteran’s Battle Axe, Axe & Dagger, Troubadour’s Lute, Salvaged Trebuchaxe, Great Martyr’s Blade.
  • Mammon: Obsidian Hammer, Ballistazooka, Triarch Repeater, Cursed Child, Axatana, Black Needle, Clockwork Scythe, Caged Hystrix.

Eight armaments are found in the Ruins of Mammon

Collecting Tips

Finish the prologue to grab The Iconoclast and Naylshotte early, then head for the Veteran’s Battle Axe in King’s Crypt. The Troubadour’s Lute from the tavern is one of the best early sidearms because it forces enemies to fight each other. Leave the Mammon armaments — Obsidian Hammer, Axatana, Black Needle, and Clockwork Scythe — until you have stronger gear and more levels. Save upgrade materials for one main weapon at the Tarforge before spreading them thin.
